Job Summary:
This position assists in extracting and compiling data for both internal and external data requests, providing critical institutional statistics used for decision making. This requires a high level of analytical thinking to apply judgement, research, and evaluation as a means to confirm the accuracy of the results. The position will provide data in a variety of ways (e.g., informational dashboards, interactive data visualizations, and metric reports).
Essential Functions:
- Provides assistance with the coordination of data collection and reporting for The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and the Higher Information System (HEI) for the state of Ohio and other external surveys.
- Responds to ad hoc requests for information and analysis.
- Actively integrates campus, departmental, and relevant external data into analysis, research, and planning projects.
- Regularly engages in institutional data analysis and produces reports and information that support strategic decision-making.
- Assesses existing data using statistical techniques to predict and forecast likely future outcomes and prepares appropriate tabular, text, and interactive visualization reports.
- Synthesizes complex issues and presents them via dashboards and reports in a creative and nontechnical manner.
- Provides high-quality data and analyses, identifies gaps in reporting needs and additional data required.
- Works collaboratively with other analysts from Planning, Strategy and Insights, and across campus.
- Utilizes creative presentation techniques to gain interest in analyses that advance decision making and support implementation of projects, programs, and new initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree. Requires a minimum of two years experience in database and spreadsheet software, hands-on analysis, including use of statistical and database management software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, OLAP, SQL, Access, Brio, Peoplesoft, PowerBI, Tableau), or experience in institutional research or data analysis. Strong communication skills along with the ability to work harmoniously and effectively with personnel at all levels of campus required. A high level of organizational accuracy and attention to detail required. Knowledge of organizational principles and procedures involved in handling sensitive data (for example, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA). Ability to analyze problems and solve complex research-based tasks. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
