Are you a systems thinker who loves solving problems, streamlining processes, and helping others succeed?  We are looking for a capable, curious, and tech-savvy individual to join our team as a Business Systems Analyst. This position will work across departments to improve the way Muskingum University uses its core administrative systems—like our ERP (Colleague), workflow tools (Power Automate, N8N), and AI-enabled automation platforms.

You'll collaborate with offices such as Finance, Registrar, Financial Aid, and Student Experience to build smarter workflows, reduce manual work, and deliver useful data insights. You’ll work where you’re most needed, balancing technical tasks with consultative, people-focused problem-solving.

    Major Responsibilities

    • Partner with campus departments to understand business needs and co-design systems-based solutions.
    • Design, build, and support workflow automations using platforms like Power Automate and N8N.
    • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using tools such as Informer.
    • Learn and maintain knowledge of our ERP (Colleague) and assist with data configuration and troubleshooting.
    • Use AI-based automation tools to improve revenue operations and administrative efficiency.
    • Conduct needs assessments, identify gaps in current processes, and suggest improvements.
    • Translate user needs into clear technical requirements and workflows.
    • Train users and document systems/processes for sustainability and handoff.
    • Provide Tier II support for system issues that require deeper troubleshooting.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

We value capabilities, initiative, and learning agility over formal credentials. No specific degree or certification is required.  We welcome applicants from a range of educational, professional, and self-taught backgrounds. If you’ve successfully learned and applied systems thinking or automation tools in any setting, we encourage you to apply.  You’ll be successful in this role if you:

    • Have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Are a systems thinker who enjoys solving operational problems.
    • Learn new tools quickly and take initiative to explore solutions.
    • Can manage multiple priorities with minimal oversight.
    • Enjoy working across teams and translating technical ideas into plain language.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Exposure to ERP systems (e.g., Colleague, Banner).
    • Familiarity with workflow automation tools like Power Automate, N8N, Zapier, or similar.
    • Experience using data or AI tools to improve processes.
    • Experience supporting technology or operations in higher education or a similar environment.
    • Basic understanding of databases, systems integration, or reporting platforms.

    Why Join Us

    • Work on meaningful projects that directly improve how the institution serves students and staff.
    • Learn cutting-edge tools in a supportive environment.
    • Be part of a small, nimble, and collaborative tech-forward team.
    • Enjoy flexibility and autonomy in a dynamic role that evolves based on institutional needs.

This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

    HOW TO APPLY

Applications must include a current resume and a cover letter describing a problem you have solved using systems, tools, or automation. We are especially interested in how you approach problem-solving, collaboration, and learning new technologies.  If not provided, references may be requested.  Application materials should be sent by email to careers@muskingum.edu or faxed to 740-826-6131.  Please include the position title in the subject line of your correspondence.  This position will remain open until filled, with review of applications to begin immediately.
